My name is, Simchah.
When I was a child and growing up, I believed that the Earth, the universe, and everything in it started with the Big Bang, that humans came from monkeys through evolution, that we live on a spinning ball moving really fast, and that freedom means we can do whatever we want. Now, I see how silly that was to believe without thinking about Elohim.
Where I was born, most people, about 61%, believe that humans slowly changed from other living things all by natural processes, without Elohim's help. About 31% aren't sure or believe in a mix of both ideas. And around 8% believe that Elohim made humans and everything exactly as they are.
Many Jewish people (as well as believers in other gods and unbelievers) are also deceived, just like I was, from early on. This deception often starts at home and in school, where teachings focus on tradition but leave out the full truth about Yeshua HaMashiach being Elohim. Without accepting Yeshua as the Messiah, they miss the full message and salvation Elohim offers.
If you are willing to put aside your "beliefs," "knowledge," "wisdom," "understanding," and your pride, even for a moment, the truth will find you.
And when the truth finds you, just like it told me, it will tell you:
You have been deceived!
We don't even realize it, or worse, we don't want to hear that we have been deceived. And because we have been deceived, we now face all the pain and suffering that fills the world today:

If you don't have all of these qualities, you are not truly good. You might think you are good, or maybe others see you that way, but true goodness is measured by the standard of love.
I don't know about you, but I am not a good person. That's why I try every day to grow and change. But this change is only possible with Elohim (God), because by nature we are flawed and often make "wrong choices," something beyond our control. The first step is to recognize this in ourselves and humbly ask Elohim for forgiveness, mercy, and grace.
According to the Bible, true transformation begins with repentance, followed by belief in Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus the Messiah), and a conscious decision to be baptized in water.
Sometimes I stumble, but Elohim is quick to forgive when we are quick to repent, giving us grace and strength to keep moving forward.

At first, studying the Bible can feel difficult, frustrating and draining. I pray to Elohim, whom I also call Abba (Father) and ask Ruakh HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) to help you overcome those obstacles.
Applying and studying the Bible is the only way that will eventually solve all your problems, whether mental, emotional, physical, or spiritual. From grief and loneliness to addictions, health struggles, relationship difficulties, incurable diseases and even infanticide, the Bible shows you the truth and the way out of every situation.

There is only one truth that will save your soul, and that is being willing to know the truth no matter the outcome or cost. I can tell you from experience that the truth has a cost. It is often painful, but it also brings freedom like nothing else can.
We must stay humble and never think we know it all, that's when deception creeps in. We will never fully know until we are with Him. 1 Corinthians 13:12

Applying and Studying the Bible
Studying and applying the Bible is one of the most powerful ways to find freedom, healing, and purpose. While it may not immediately erase every difficulty, the Word of Elohim transforms our hearts and minds, giving us wisdom, hope, and direction for every area of life.
It brings light into our darkest moments, including:
Mental health struggles, grief, sadness, depression, loneliness, eating disorders, financial insecurity, relationship difficulties, lack of purpose, health problems (even chronic illnesses like fibromyalgia), burnout, obesity, time pressure, fear of uncertainty or change, jealousy, envy, addictions (to sex, alcohol, drugs, smoking, food, gambling, internet, gaming, medication), and even incurable diseases. The Bible has something to say about every human struggle, even mourning and death.
Yeshua is the Truth and the Way out (John 14:6). He is your solution, not just to one problem, but to your entire life. But it's your responsibility to seek Him and learn how the Kingdom of Elohim works.
Once you understand that your main reason for being here is to know Elohim, many of life's problems begin to lose their power. His presence reorders your heart, mind, and circumstances. The process takes time, it's a lifelong journey of learning, stumbling, and getting back up.
If you get back up one more time than you fall, you win. No matter how often you're knocked down, keep getting up, Elohim sees your determination. When you've done all you can, that's when He steps in and does what you can't.
Without Elohim, It's Impossible, You Need Him.

Where to Start Reading the Bible
Below is a list of books that are the best place to start reading the Bible if you haven't read much of the Bible or just interested in learning about it. If you read these books it will give you a good idea of what Elohim has done for you and how you should respond.
1. John
A clear, beautiful look at who Yeshua is and what He has done for us. John gives you a deep foundation in the identity and mission of the Messiah, the center of the entire Bible.
2. James
James is bold and practical. It shows what it means to live your faith. Believing in Yeshua isn't just about what you think, it's about how you live. James will challenge and strengthen you.
3. Proverbs
Full of daily wisdom. You can read one chapter a day (31 total).
Proverbs offers practical guidance on relationships, decisions, finances, speech, and more.
4. Romans
A powerful explanation of the Gospel and how to live in light of Yeshua's resurrection.
Deep, theological, and incredibly helpful for understanding salvation.
5. Psalms
The Psalms meet you where you are, in joy, sorrow, fear, or peace. They help you express your heart and connect deeply with Elohim. Personally, I find that a lot is lost in translation when reading Psalms in my native language. That's why I read them in English, even though it sometimes requires extra effort.

The ESV (English Standard Version) is a solid choice, accurate and easy to read. -
For deeper study:
The NET Bible (New English Translation), Full Notes Edition includes extensive translator notes explaining why certain words and phrases were chosen. This is helpful for understanding the meaning behind the words. -
For spiritual growth:
The NKJV Spirit-Filled Life Bible, Third Edition is especially helpful for those who desire to grow in Spirit-led living. It's filled with study tools, word studies, and applications designed for followers of Yeshua HaMashiach.

Here's what I do to get as close as possible to the original meaning of Scripture:

I prefer to study with a physical Bible, large print, easy to handle, not on a screen.

For daily reading, I use a Bible in my native language and choose a version that's comfortable for me to read.

I rely on Ruakh HaKodesh to lead me into all truth. The Spirit is our Teacher, our Guide, and our Helper (John 14:26).
When you seek the truth with all your heart, the truth will find you.
You may stumble along the way, we all do, but Ruakh HaKodesh is always there to lift you up, guide you forward, and remind you how deeply you are loved.

Start Where You Are, Elohim Will Meet You There
When I first started, I have to be honest:
I gave up.
I couldn't understand the Bible.
Not even a little.
It was like reading something written for someone else, not for me. I turned to YouTube teachers because I didn't know where else to go. Many told me, "You should read the Bible for yourself."
But I just couldn't do it. Not because I didn't want to. But because I couldn't understand it, and I was already coming out of years of burnout, confusion, and pain. My mind couldn't handle it, and my heart felt distant.
That's where the deception crept in, because when you don't know the Word for yourself, you become vulnerable to any voice that sounds right.
And yet… Elohim met me there. Even in the deception. He didn't abandon me. He patiently led me, step by step, out of confusion and back into the truth.
Not all at once. Not in a flash of understanding. But gradually, gently, faithfully.
So if you're in that place right now, if the Bible feels too hard, too heavy, or just impossible to understand, I understand. I've lived it. But don't stay there.
Don't let shame or confusion stop you. Don't let the voices of others replace the voice of Elohim.
Don't give up, because He hasn't given up on you.
Keep seeking. Keep knocking. Ruakh HaKodesh will teach you.
Truth is a journey, not a shortcut. And every step counts!
Over time, I have begun learning the meanings of Hebrew and Greek words like Sheol (the place of the dead), Hades (the underworld), Gehenna (final judgment or destruction), and Aionios (age-lasting, not necessarily eternal), which bring us closer to knowing the full truth of the Bible. That's probably how it will go with you too, so don't feel discouraged — we all had to start from zero!
